the examine-archive presents SUE-LÈWIG-VIPER-EP(XMN02)
German artist and producer Sue Lèwig, Berlin born and a nomad from an early age, creates music beyond the profane: Techno as a ritual in which everything is fluid and „one“ – focussing on the emotional, physical and sensual.
In the EP‘s first track 'Taras' she intersperses the uniformity of monotonously, pulsting beats with fine syncopations, embeding them in ghostly soundscapes – creating a mighty dancefloor-'bomba'. It feels like being beaten up and consoled at the same time. Especially the passages garnished with her otherworldly, alluring singing feel like a reconciliation to a world that could be different.
'Liv' – a track with no beats – domninated by her Siren-like singing, feels like a counterpiece to the convoluted, hammering beat of the title track 'Viper'. Both tracks stacked on top of each other would probably sound like a typical Sue Lèwig track. The EP ends with two 'Taras'-interpretations by Conrad Pack, Seln Records (London) and Truthspeaker, Posthoc (Berlin), which together with Sue`s tracks form an excellent ensemble.
